Brand: MiSight

Wear Schedule: Daily Disposable

Lens Purpose: Myopia

Technology:

ActivControl™

MiSight® contact lenses are a daily disposable lens intended for children with myopia (nearsightedness). These lenses have the latest technology to not only correct vision, but to slow the progression of myopia altogether!

According to a study by CooperVision1:

  • 95 – 100% preferred wearing MiSight® 1 day contact lenses to glasses.
  • Children as young as 8 years could confidently use their contacts soon after their first fitting.

Who Would Benefit from Wearing  MiSight® 1 day Technology Contacts?

These contact lenses utilize ActivControl™ Technology which are designed for developing eyes between 8 to 12 years of age. These lenses are unique because (unlike other contact lens designs), they not only correct vision at a distance, they also are an important component in myopic management.

Daily disposable contact lenses are the most convenient safe form of contact lens wear that there is. Wear it one day, and dispose of it. No need to worry about microorganisms, lipids, protein, allergens, or other tear film debris building up on the contact lens as with day to day wear. It’s simple. A new pair today, and a new pair tomorrow.

Given the age bracket of this contact’s wearers (8-12), the one day wear is a very important design aspect for the MiSight®.

Lens Technology & Features

  • ActivControl™ Technology – ActivControl™ Technology used by this lens with different treatment zones in its design, creates an area of defocus while also fine tuning focus for the wearer. The purpose of this design is to create optics which do not encourage axial length growth. Since increased axial length is directly associated with increased myopia, the intended result is a lower amount of myopia than if left untreated.
  • Net plastic neutral – Through their partnership with Plastic Bank®, CooperVision is able to offset the plastic use by collecting and converting an equal amount for every product sold.
  • Aids in myopia management – Myopia management is used for children whose parent(s) have high levels of myopia. If it appears that the child’s eyes are following in the footsteps of their parents’ eye growth, then intervention is possible. Studies support that myopia management demonstrates a benefit in reducing axial length and overall amount of myopia (nearsightedness) of the eye.
